Bryan Porter - Sensei
Bryan Porter has been a staple in the martial arts community for over 50 years. Having received his training from his father, the late Master Larry Porter, Bryan began his teaching at a very young age. Teaching for the senior Porter for 10 years, Bryan finally opened up his first school in 1986 and has produced over 100 black belts since.
Though the United House of Karate (U.H.O.K) has a strong presence in the tournament community, Sensei Porter's focus has always been on the art of self defense, itself. The roots of U.H.O.K are Shotokan Karate, which is Japanese in origin, The Porter's, however, are also black belts in Aikido which teaches more hand to hand, practical style combat.
Many of Sensei Porter's students have been with him since childhood, which is a testament to the loyalty and following that the school fosters. Open to all ages, each class that he teaches is tailored to the student. From the beginning adult to the more experienced, from the young to the old, either male or female, no matter what U.H.O.K has a program that will suit each student.
When you think of Karate in Jacksonville, one same name comes to mind; the Porter's.
